So We’ve been working hard on the house. Demo’d the Kitchen over the past week and the new cabinets are being installed today, exterior of the house was painted last week too.. So many details.. and man we’ve pulled a lot of material out of that room from the old kitchen. I have piles on top of piles of stuff in the back yard, going to have to get another dumpster dropped.
Couple of days of vacation under my belt now. And dad and I have been working our asses off. Dad and Mom are in town from Ohio. Thursday we trimmed back all of the rodies and bushes around the house and yard, I hung the reed fencing along the back fence, we picked up the doors at lowes, and we cleaned the 40 gallon fish tank and set it in Lavi’s room. Today Dad and I applied two coats of urethane to the doors and jambs. Tomorrow is fence day, picking up the two man auger and we’re going to dig post holes and set posts.
Tons of work going on. And more to go. I’m off until the end of next week and plan on projects the entire time. We’re going to have to do something fun tomorrow too so I don’t just overwork Dad while he’s on vacation too.
Veggin’ like crazy now. Big day again tomorrow. Laterz.
Busy with work.. lots of stuff being organized and planned for the house. busy. Wanted to put some text here. Done with lame post, sorry to have smoked some of your brain cells. Please move along.
Once again the solstice marks the annual trek to the heart of the Siskiyou Mountains of Southern Oregon. It was indeed an epic year. I’m totally swamped now that I’m back but hopefully I’ll have some more stuff about the trip later..
Here’s some media of the trip, all copyright Johnathon Allen..
Last year, Transportation Commissioner Sam Adams received $50,000 to fund the first stages of Portland’s Bicycle Master Plan Update process. But this year, Adams’ office was surprised to see that the Mayor has decided to not continue funding this project.
I find this extremely unfortunate. I sent an email to the Mayor’s Public Advocate, Jeremy Van Keuren at jvankeuren@ci.portland.or.us
Please pass onto the Mayor my concern that funding the Bicycle Master Plan is extremely important to the City of Portland. Discontinuing his part of the budget would be a major setback for the future and safety of Portland and the success of it’s world leading alternative transportation goals.

Johnathon dropped this in my inbox this afternoon. Filmed in London, all the audio is made from recorded bike and inline skate sounds. This was screened at Portland’s Filmed by Bike this week as well.
As you might know I’m a sucker for American Idol for me it’s much like some evil bad habbit that isn’t easy to keep a secret. Sometimes it makes me feel dirty but I can’t keep away from it. Check this dude out from France.

I am seriously working with the worst piece of software ever. Equity Edge from eTrade. Trying to upgrade our database at work has confirmed earlier notions of it’s horror. I don’t wish this upon anyone.
Well he’s not offically walking on his own. But he has mastered walking with the aid of some sort of rolling aparatus. This weekend we were out having a fun afternoon walking around Alberta St in NE Portland and running some errands. Eden stuck him behind this cool cart device they’re selling at Grasshopper and pointed him across the large hardwood floor they have there and he just took off! I captured that video on my phone but of course the quality sucks when transfering it to anything other than the small screen of another phone.
When we got home however, I stuck him behind the great car/walker transformoid that Grandma Janet got him for the holidays and zounds! he was at it again!

Now he’s a pro. Even walls and other objects won’t stop him. He simply rams whatever he’s encountered over and over again until Daddy steps in and turns him around sending him off in the other direction, or if it’s a non-fixed object he just pushes it right along with him.
Alright, so yeah, here is my obligitory post on how I’ve updated my blizzo and all the “like you might have noticed the new look and feel” mumbo jumbo. But it’s true. And I’m close to being totally happy with it. I’ve spent some time over the past couple of weeks getting things updated, spit shined and more integrated for slyness. If you haven’t noticed there are three main sites for my domain.
Stuff used, wordpress 2.1, mediawiki, gallery2 and the underlying stuff to support those applications.. Linux, apache2, mysql, php5 blah blah blah… And due to an impending hard drive failure that I noticed recently it’s all on a newly installed 80gb drive running Efty Edge.
Haaaweeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaah! Lots of new plugins, abilities to make media rich pages easily and some fancy shine. All wrapped up in slyness.
Anyway. There you go. Hopefully it will motivate or enable me to do more fun things to entertain, communicate, and all around blather all over the place. Obligitory post ended. All up in the blizzo!
