So, of course, I don’t have any more pictures up yet of our trip to Kauai. Honestly, I’ll admit that when I said I was going to have them up last weekend I knew I was on crack. But I’ll get them up there sometime… I know I will.
So, although work has been extremely slow this past week, overall, it’s been pretty busy life wise. Eden is currently in San Francisco helping Marisa move up here. She flew down yesterday morning and they’re driving back today. Current status is that they’re getting a very late start. So unless they stop somewhere over night on their way up I really don’t expect to see them until after midnight at the earliest. Work wise, I was able to study some Python tutorials, get registered for a conference in the Atlanta area, Château Élan Winery and Resort, for mid-September, and I am excited about the possibility of working on a couple other projects here at the office.
On Tuesday we had dinner with my Uncle Dan, Aunt Carol and their friend and house mate Barbra. They were in the area from Ohio and we were able to meet at Nicholas’s from a delicious dinner, we went on a short walk along the water front and then we drove through the downtown area and I gave my “Downtown Portland in 20 minutes” Driving tour. It was great to see them and a very fun adventure.
On Wednesday I lost. The Personal Telco Project’s elections for president were held on Wednesday. I was a candidate however, after it was all said and done Don Park won the election and is now el Presidente. Congrats Don. I’m sure that it will be an amazing experience for you and that the next two years will be challenging and successful. And thanks to everyone that put their vote to me.. and everyone else for making Personal Telco such a fantastic organization. This leaves me still the Treasurer of the organization and one of three officers of the corporation. And it leaves everyone with a new start and a lot of work to do!
Other than that life keeps on.. I really really want to get on my bike, something I might even have a chance to do tonight after work if I make it happen. I think my sleep levels are alright so I should have enough energy this afternoon. And I’ve been in the habit of riding Saturday mornings like clock work when I’m in town. But tomorrow we’ll have to unload the U-Haul and move Marisa in so I might not be able to ride until the afternoon.. That could mean some serious heat. We’ll see how it goes.
Oh.. I almost forgot.. Get this weeks Willamette Week. Eden’s photography was used for a book review of a local Portland writer.. Go Eden!!!!

The time is going slowly this week.. My mind and body are fighting tooth and nail to not become part of reality again. I’m hoping that doesn’t last too much longer. Must get images from the trip up this weekend. Promise
Should be leaving work soon and tomorrow morning Tim and Neil are meeting up at the house and we’re going riding in Forest Park. It’ll sure feel good to get back on the bike. OK then..

Well, we’re heading home tomorrow. Such a relaxing long vacation, yet already it’s time to leave. It has been a magical trip. Today we took a Power Cat Boat tour of the Nepali Coast, this week (and today) we snorkeled with sea turtles and amazing fish. Tomorrow we fly back to Portland. I’m sure there will be more to document over the next weeks as I get back into reality. There are so many things that we did that will be great to write about and amazing pictures to show everyone. This is a beautiful island and we’ve had a beautiful time. But now it’s time for one last check of the email, one last quick post here, and a few post cards from Eden. Then back to the bungalow to pack and get ready for the morning. Eden did blog a bit this week if you want to check that out.
So don’t want to leave, but can’t wait to get back home! By the way.. If you’re in Portland and you’ve seen the billboard for Kauai as you’re going through downtown. We launched for our boat extravaganza today out of that exact bay.. That was our view along side of a school of well over 50 spinner dolphins.. Amazing..
See you all soon..

So we’ve departed from Poipu and are heading further up the Island to the North Coast. Everyone says that the North side for the island is extremely lush and beautiful, so I’m excited to see it. They get a lot more moisture up there, so the environment should be noticeably different. Right now we’re in Kapa’a having a coffee at Small Town Coffee “It’s Old School” .. that’s their hook.. We ate breakfast across the street from where we are now, at a place called the Olympic Cafe. Finally some food that tastes like food. I tell you what, food on this island so far leaves A LOT to be desired. But we’re restocking our supplies again today and moving into our new cottage, so hopefully we’ll be cooking some tasty dinners soon enough.

In the Allerton Garden, part of the National Botanical Gardens. Recognize it? See the Jurassic Park Dino eggs?
Later.

Today we’re going for a hike in Waimea canyon. Tonight we’ll try and get some more images up. We’re still having a great trip. Yesterday we spent a few hours at the beach, it was windy, then we had happy hour drinks (eh… sorta lame). The tourism spots are really just that, luckily we got the inside scoop on the beaches to go to so we’ve had beautiful spaces all to ourselves. We’re trying to stay away from those as much as possible.
Eden just went on a walk so that I could finish up getting ready so she should be getting back any minute. Then adventure for the afternoon. Until then…

We’ve made it. Things are going fantastically and everything here is beautiful. We’re heading to the beach again in just a few minutes. And I can’t wait to write more!

I want to do more boogie boarding today!

Eden and I both should be able to do more writing soon.
Hope the main land is well.
Aloha!
